It’s Rude To Eat Or Drink While Walking It’s Rude To Eat Or Drink While Walking It’s Rude To Eat Or Drink While Walking It’s Rude To Eat Or Drink While Walking

We have some traditional customs or cultures which could be considered rude or offensive to foreigners but are very natural things to us.
I will show you some examples, here.
Particularly, the slurping sounds might be rude to foreigners.
We make slurping sounds when eating any noodles soup such as ramen, udon or soba, except spaghetti.
Since we are born in Japan, we learned how to make the sound while eating those noodles.
Actually, this is not a thing to learn, this is the thing we acquire naturally by looking the way our parents or other adults do.

So I had never imagined that the slurping sounds Japanese people make while eating noodles is rude and not a good manner to foreigners till I saw some TV programs in which they told that the sound was not acceptable to foreigners.

Making slurping sound is considered, in a sense, polite in our society in Japan, because people who served the noodle to you can recognize that you are enjoying having the noodles by the slurping sounds.
Cook can know you love that noodle with that noise you might consider it rude.

In addition, I will tell you the reason why we make that slurping sounds while eating noodles.

We make the slurping sounds that mean we are sipping the noodles and also the air.

We do this to avoid having our tongue burned because the soups of those noodles are generally served very hot, which is hot enough to burn our tongues, and this slurping noodles helps to cool down the noodles.

We do not care so much what the people from overseas countries think this is rude or impolite to do in front of the people because this is our custom which we eat noodles slurping with the theoretical reason.

I will show you another example, you might think it is rude or bad behavior, but might not be that bad to us, Japanese people.

Do you blow your nose in front of people?
I have heard before that blowing your nose in front of people is kind of rude in Japan. Or people heard of the sound surrounding us might feel that is simply disgusting.

So what do we do when we want to blow our nose, I wonder?

How about you?

Do you blow your nose even if you are in front of some people?

Japanese people have the tendencies not to blow our nose in public. Instead, we will generally sniffle until we find somewhere we can hide ourselves to blow our nose.

How about me? I thought how I did if I felt blowing my nose.
I have been thinking about it and found that I could actually blow my nose in front of people because I do not think it is rude to blow my nose.

So I really wondered if every Japanese people agreed with the idea that we did not blow our nose in public.
Or am I special? Or I might be the one of only a few.

Well, if you simply need to blow your nose in JAPAN, I will recommend that you should find somewhere private or you should do as discreetly as you could.
Or, I have a good idea, if we want to blow our nose here, in JAPAN and you can not do it in public.
We can simply slurp our nose as we make slurping sounds while eating a ramen.
We know that we, Japanese people are very good at slurping things.

profane language affect our physical strength in a good way

profane language affect our physical strength in a good way

One study shows that swearing or using profane language affect our physical strength in a good way and increase the resistance to pain, the reason of which has not yet to be discovered fully.

Opinion:
Before getting down to the main point of this topic, let me talk about the confusion which I felt in one sentence of this article.

When I saw the word “swearing” in this article, I hardly understand what the sentence really means.
The word has multiple meanings, one of which is, for instance, to make a solemn promise or to vow.

Therefore, making a solemn promise and also saying the bad languages increase the physical strength. The both phrases do not seem to make sense to me, and I try to understand the other meaning of the word, which I do not realized first, with reading this article repeatedly.

While doing that, I felt some researchers are so strange to study that. They should have known better than doing this.

After having read this article repeatedly, I ended up noticing another meaning of the word, swearing, which is to say bad language or curse.

Now, I fully understood what the researcher of this study wanted to mean, however this article still sounds strange to me, because I believe the miraculous power of language, which we call it Koto-dama.

You might think it is unfamiliar to this way of thought.

Each word we use can affect our real world, affect our action and our health in a good way or in a bad way.

Here is an old expression, “The way you say things can make all the difference.”
As shown by this phrase, it is important to give more attention about how you say things.

The profane language or nasty words make you go down. If you keep using those words, you might get sickness or you notice that nothing is going to go well even if you work hard.

You probably know an experiment which is showing the word has a strong power.
The thing is like this. You prepare two glasses of water, and to one glass of water you keep telling good words or beautiful words and tell the water “Thank you” every day and get it frozen. You found its snow crystal so beautiful like a jewelry, a most recognizable star-shaped.
On the other hands, you keep telling bad words or nasty words every day to another glass of water and also get it frozen you will find it not beautiful shape as the other glass of water.
We also know the well-known fact that if you give lots of kind words to the cactus which has not bloomed for years, the cactus reacts to your words and bloom.

We could see a lot of similar experiments or phenomena as these ones above in many places in the world.
Therefore, we want to use good language as much as we could, and not bad words, off course.

From those reason, I got confused with this article.
They say bad language could accelerate their movement or develop their physical strength in a good way and also increase the pain tolerance.
Another study reveals that swearing leads to have a surge of adrenaline which helps alleviate the pain.

I still could not make myself understood by the explanation entirely, but only one sentence, swearing is a sign of honesty and swearing is a good way for self-expression, could convince me, it is vaguely though.

The expert also says they actually can’t understand the functions or mechanism of this event occurs in our body fully.

Recommendation
What they want to tell us might be different from what I felt at first I read this article.
The searing when we feel the pain is a natural form of pain relief.
